Insurance
Exclusions and Excess
As is standard throughout the industry, the
insurance cover provided by many of our suppliers does
not cover damage to tyres, windscreens, the roof, the
underside or interior of the car, loss of keys and related
towing charges. In these instances you may be held liable.
Contents of the car are normally covered by your normal
travel insurance policy. All rental cars are insured
for a maximum number of passengers. If the number of
passengers exceeds this maximum amount, any insurance
will be invalidated. Some suppliers charge an insurance
excess if the car is returned damaged, details of this
can be found on your Pre-Paid Car Hire Voucher.
Documentation
Once your booking has been confirmed and payment received
a Pre-Paid Car Voucher will be sent to you. This Pre-Paid
Voucher must be presented when collecting your rental
car. Car Hire Supermarket cannot be held responsible
for rentals rejected or charged locally if a valid Voucher
is not presented.
Driving
Licences
All drivers must produce a full National licence written
in the English alphabet (an International Driving Permit
is required in some countries) which has been held for
at least 1-3 years depending on the country of hire.
It is the drivers’ responsibility to ensure that
he/she had the appropriate driving licence. Any endorsements
on the driver’s licence must be disclosed at the
time of booking. No refunds will be given for unfulfilled
rentals due to non-production of a valid driving licence
or non-disclosed endorsements. Faxed or photocopied
licences are not acceptable. US and Canadian licence
holders cannot rent vehicles in the US and Canada.
Additional
drivers
Some locations charge locally for additional drivers.
Amendments
If you need to amend your booking, you need to notify
us of your changes as soon as possible. We will do our
best to accommodate your needs although any amendments
cannot be guaranteed, if we are able to make the necessary
changes, this may be subject to a £5 amendment
fee.

Car Hire Supermarket levy a charge for cancellation
of any booking you are unable to honour prior to your

Vehicle
type / suitability
We cannot guarantee a specific make or model of vehicle.
The vehicle description on this site and on your voucher
is for guidance only. If it becomes impossible to provide
the type of car booked, a similar or upgraded car will
be provided. Car Hire Supermarket cannot accept responsibility
where a vehicle is not big enough to fit all passengers
and luggage on arrival if full details were not given
at the time of booking.
If you are dissatisfied
with the standard of car received, you must notify our
local car rental partner immediately and Car Hire Supermarket
in writing within 28 days of your return. Failure to
do so may result in any claims not being accepted or
settled by Car Hire Supermarket.
Delivery
and Collection
Collection of your hire car is normally at the airport
or the local supplier’s office. In some locations,
it may be possible to have your car delivered to your
hotel, during normal working hours for a small fee which
is payable locally. Full details of the address and
time of delivery must be provided at the time of booking.
Out
of hours’ charges
If you arrange to collect your hire car outside working
hours there may be an out of hour’s fee payable,
this will be quoted at the time of booking. This charge
may apply to both the outbound and inbound flights.
Please also note that should your flight be delayed,
causing collection of the rental to fall within ‘out
of hours’ times, this charge will still apply.
Car Hire Supermarket can accept no responsibility there
is no out of hours’ facility available and you
are recommended to take out independent travel insurance.
  |
Mechanical
difficulties / Accidents
If you are dissatisfied with the standard of the vehicle
upon collection or during the rental, you must report
this to the car hire company immediately. It is difficult
for Car Hire Supermarket to assess any issue raised
regarding the standard of your rental after you have
accepted the vehicle.
If your hire car has any mechanical difficulties or
is involved in an accident, you must report this to
the local supplier immediately. You must also notify
the local police in the case of accidents and a signed
police report obtained in addition to full details of
any third parties involved. Authority to repair or replace
the vehicle must be obtained from the local supplier
whose name and address appears on your voucher and rental
agreement. A check-in form should also be signed on
return of the vehicle and copies of all rental documentation
retained.
Failure to follow this procedure may invalidate your
insurance cover and prejudice any claim for compensation.
  |
Provision
of vehicles
Our local car hire supplier can refuse to provide a
vehicle to any customer who is, in their opinion, unfit
to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements.
In such circumstances, your contract with us will terminate
immediately, and no refund will be due.
Driving
restrictions
Restrictions are applicable when crossing country and
state borders. Please consult our reservations team
at the time of booking as to whether border crossing
is permitted and what, if any charges apply in respect
of additional insurance which is payable locally. Please
also mention your intentions to the car hire supplier
when collecting your car.
Hire
period
The price charged is based in the collection and return
dates and times selected. No refunds are payable if
the vehicle is collected late, returned early or voluntarily
downgraded unless amended with us prior to your collection
date. If you return the car later than stated on your
voucher or extend the rental period after collecting
your car, this will be chargeable locally at the supplier’s
daily rate, which may be considerably higher than ours.

within 28 days of receiving full details in writing,
although some complaints may take longer due to the
nature of the issue and information provided. Complaints
can only be considered by Car Hire Supermarket if received

or travel agent receives a refund, goodwill gesture
and/or compensation payment of a duplicated nature,

we reserve the right to recover such payments at any
time within two calendar years of such an event.

in question.
  |
Losses
Car Hire Supermarket is responsible for losses you suffer
as a result of us breaking this agreement if the losses
are a foreseeable consequence of us breaking the agreement.
Losses are foreseeable where they could be contemplated
by both you and us at the time our contract was formed

rental of the vehicle concerned provided that nothing
in this clause shall limit Car Hire Supermarkets liability
for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Car Hire Supermarket is not responsible for indirect
losses which happen as a side effect of the main loss
or damage and which are not foreseeable by you or us
(such as loss of profits or loss of opportunity).
  |
